Dan Woltman, the University of Wisconsin senior-to-be from Beaver Dam, was defeated by New Zealander Danny Lee, 1-up, in the Sweet 16 of the 106th Western Amateur Championship Saturday in Benton Harbor, Mich.

That means the No. 16 seed Woltman took the top-seeded Lee to the final hole. 

But a solid showing for Woltman at the Western Am, considered the second-biggest amateur tournament in the U.S. behind the U.S. Amateur.
