As expected, unbeaten Wisconsin jumped up a spot to No. 1 in the latest USA Today/USA Hockey magazine poll released Tuesday.

But the Badgers no doubt wear the mantle with some trepidation because of what's coming later this month.

The Badgers (6-0 overall) go on the road to face Bemidji State (1-1-2) Friday and Saturday. The second meeting will go down as the first U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame game for women and be held at the Hippodrome in Eveleth, Minn.

Then it gets very interesting for UW.

Second-ranked Minnesota comes to the Kohl Center Oct. 24 and 26.

Then fourth-ranked and defending NCAA champion Minnesota-Duluth comes to the Kohl Center Oct. 31 and Nov. 1.

The Badgers took over the No. 1 spot because Minnesota swept Duluth on its home ice last weekend.

UW is coming off a 2007-08 season in which was 4-1-1 against Minnesota, including wins in the WCHA and NCAA tournaments.

Duluth, meanwhile, knocked off the Badgers in the WCHA and NCAA title games.

One thing is for certain: All involved have long memories.
