A few items from the University of Wisconsin women's basketball team as the Badgers prepare for their season opener Monday night at South Dakota State:
-- Junior point guard Rae Lin D'Alie has been chosen team captain in an unanimous vote of her teammates, according to a release issued by the school. D'Alie, who comes from Waterford, was a starter her first two seasons and averaged 5.7 points and 3.6 assists per game last season.
-- Coach Lisa Stone said junior forward Mariah Dunham is questionable for Monday's opener because of a back problem that has kept her out of practice for three days this week. Senior center Kaitlin Gibson also is questionable because of a back problem that kept her from playing in Sunday's exhibition victory over UW-River Falls. However, freshman forward Ashley Thomas, is expected to be available for South Dakota State after missing two days of practice this week because of strep throat.
