It will be nine days since UW-Milwaukee coach Rob Jeter's father, Bob, died when the Panthers face the Wisconsin Badgers tomorrow at the Kohl Center.

Jeter, of course, played for Badgers coach Bo Ryan at UW-Platteville, and was an assistant under him at his alma mater, UW-Milwaukee and UW.

Bob Jeter, a former Green Bay Packers player, died last Thursday of a heart attack at his home in Chicago, Ill. A memorial service has been scheduled for this Monday at 6 p.m. at Chicago's Martin Temple AMEZ Church.

Those wishing to send condolences to the Jeter family can send them to the church (the address is 6930 Cottage Grove, Chicago, IL 60619, care of Rev. Jimmy Allen Thomas) or to UW-Milwaukee athletics (c/o Rob Jeter, UWM Athletics, The Pavilion, 3409 N. Downer Ave., Milwaukee, WI 53211).

Here's what Ryan and UW associate head coach Greg Gard, who was on staff with Jeter, had to say about the situation:

Ryan: "Rob's a guy that can multitask with things. He's a guy that can handle that. The thing is, when something like that happens, you're kind of the leader in the family and with all his family members and with the team. When something like this happens, emotionally you deal with it yourself, but you also have to help other people through it at home. And Robbie's very mature and can handle all that and still do what his dad loved watching him do and that was coach."

Gard: "I know how much of a role model that Bob was for Rob and how much he idolized him and Rob's where he's at in large part due to his parents. He got to see and be exposed to a lot of things that the average kid growing up doesn't get to see. ... The fact that obviously he's been around Bob has helped him become obviously a better player. He knew how to compete, he was one of the best competitors Coach Ryan's ever had, but then also as a coach, he coaches the same way. He has that fire and he doesn't like to lose."

- As for the Panthers, Ryan has been impressed with their 3-point shooting and said Jeter has tweaked his swing offense slightly.

- Former Middleton athlete Tone Boyle, a junior guard, is Milwaukee's second-leading scorer at 14.7 points per game. Boyle played one year at Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and one season at Highland Community College in Freeport, Ill., before transferring to Milwaukee.

- Former McFarland athlete Riley Walker, a freshman forward, is redshirting this year for the Panthers, while former Madison Memorial athlete Jerard Ajami, a junior guard, is sitting out after transferring from Northern Michigan.
