Freshman Brooke Ammerman scored early and often, tallying four goals as she led Wisconsin to an 8-0 victory over Syracuse Saturday afternoon at the Kohl Center.
UW swept the Orange with two shutouts on the weekend to improve to 4-0-0 as the Orange fell to 0-3-0.
Ammerman scored almost immediately scoring her first of four goals in the first 20 seconds of the game. She would continue scoring with another goal in the first period and two more in the second. Ammerman is the third Badger in school history to have a four-goal game and this is the second hat trick of the season for the Badgers.
Three other Badgers scored, as sophomore Kelly Nash had her first two-goal game scoring her first just over a minute into the game. Erika Lawler and Jasmine Giles had their first goals of the season to close out the scoring for Wisconsin.
In the second period, Syracuse's Stefanie Marty made a striking slap shot that ricocheted off both the crossbar and goal post for their best scoring opportunity. The Badgers out-shot the Orange 41-9, as both teams switched up their goalies in the third period.
Senior Jessie Vetter and Syracuse's Lucy Schoedel played the first 40 minutes before Alannah McCready and Steph Jones came in to close out the game. Vetter earned the win with five saves while McCready had four in the third to secure the shutout.
Wisconsin finished the game 3-for-6 on the power play while Syracuse was
0-for-5.
The Badgers will hit the road for the first time as they open WCHA play against Ohio State on Friday, Oct. 10. Face-off is slated at 6:07 p.m.
