Eight different players scored a goal as Wisconsin shut out Bemidji State 9-0 in the first U.S. Women's Hockey Hall of Fame game Saturday at the Eveleth Hippodrome.

The top-ranked Badgers remain undefeated  at 8-0-0 overall and 4-0-0 in the WCHA. The Beavers, who have not scored against the Badgers since November of 2006, fell to 1-3-2 and 0-2-0 in conference.

The Badgers were awarded a trophy for winning the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame game.

Wisconsin dominated from the start as it outshot the Beavers 18-3 in the first period. Sophomore Hilary Knight struck first with her 12th goal of the year off of a scramble in front of the net. Jasmine Giles and Carolyne Prevost were on the assist. Knight also notched her fourth assist of the year to keep her the top scorer for the Badgers with 16 points.

Senior Angie Keseley scored 19 seconds later on an unassisted goal in front of her family and friends that made the trip from St. Louis Park, Minn. to watch her play. Meghan Duggan also scored in the first period putting the puck past the left side of BSU goalie Alana McElhinney.

In the second period, Jasmine Giles and Carolyne Prevost both scored on power-play goals as Kelly Nash scored an even-handed goal.

Kyla Sanders was the only Badger to have a multi-goal game as she had two in the third period. Sanders scored 2:35 into the third and then

scored the final goal at 7:52 on a delayed penalty. Brooke Ammerman also

contributed a goal in the third period for her 10th goal of the season

in seven consecutive games.

Senior Jessie Vetter and junior Alannah McCready split time in the net

to get the shutout. Vetter had 10 saves in the first two periods and

McCready had six in the third. McElhinney had 39 saves on the night as

the Badgers out-shot the Beavers 48-16.

65Badger says:
This latest Women's Badger team is the real deal. They can skate, pass the puck and put it in the net. Led by Jessie Vetter, the goaltending is superb. Hilary Knight and Brooke Ammerman are prolific scorers and that is just the beginning. Who wouldn't want Meghan Duggan, Erica Lawler, Mallory Deluce or any of the unnamed others on their team. And guess what, these women graduate, with real degrees, and solid grade point averages. Every Badger fan in the Madison area should be pushing and shoving to get into the Kohl center to watch them play. They are that good and that exciting. So take a chance, go to the Kohl Center tomorrow and watch the Wisconsin Women's Hockey team play Minnesota, you'll be glad you did.
