MILWAUKEE, Wis. -- Wisconsin junior forward Scott Lorenz's offense once again led the Wisconsin men's soccer team to a win Wednesday in a 1-0 victory over Marquette in Milwaukee.

Lorenz placed the ball past Golden Eagle goalkeeper Matt Pyzdrowski from the top right corner of the box at the 14:12 mark of the first half, providing the Badgers all the scoring they needed to move back above the .500 mark for the season.

The goal was Lorenz's seventh on the year, highest for the Badgers this season, and the third consecutive game he has scored in.

Wisconsin also received a solid output from junior goalkeeper Alex Horwath who recorded his third shutout of the season. His two saves gave him 56 on the year.

Marquette refused to go down without a fight, however. The Golden Eagles led in shots with an 8-5 differential and held an advantage in corner kicks with eight to the Badgers' none.

Despite such opportunities, Horwath and the Wisconsin defense held Marquette to just two shots on goal, and recorded their fourth team shutout of the season.

The win moved the Badgers' record to 6-5-2 on the year, while Marquette dropped to 2-6-4. Wisconsin now leads the all-time series between the two teams 16-9-7, and 8-5-4 in games played in Milwaukee.

The Badgers also extended their unbeaten streak against Marquette to six games, as the UW has not lost to the Eagles since 2002.

The Badgers now turn their minds back to the Big Ten Conference as they head to Columbus, Ohio, for a Saturday night matchup with Ohio State. Game time is set for 6 p.m. at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium.
