University of Wisconsin senior Dallas Herbst made history Saturday when he surpassed former UW standout Lee Kemp for the top spot on the school's career falls list.
Herbst, who is ranked No. 5 in the country at 197 pounds, recorded two pins at the season-opening ACC/Big Ten Clash in Chapel Hill, N.C., to move his career tally to 48 pins. Kemp, who starred at the UW from 1975-78, had 47 pins during his career.
The 12th-ranked Badgers had a solid showing as a team, going 3-0 to start the season. Wisconsin started the day with a 25-15 win over No. 21 Virginia, continued with a 27-8 victory over North Carolina, and swept the competition with a 20-15 win against North Carolina State.
Herbst first tied the record by pinning Jack Danilkowicz from Virginia in 1:08. Herbst's record-breaking pin came in 48 seconds against Daniel Llamas from North Carolina. Herbst won his final bout of the day by a forfeit.
