Points to ponder:

All-time series: Wisconsin 1, South Dakota State 1. Badgers won last year, 66-62, at Madison.

Jumpin' Jackrabbits: South Dakota State knocked off Big 12 foe Missouri, 55-50, in their season opener Friday at Columbia, Mo. Beating bigger schools is nothing new for the Jackrabbits, who are 6-3 against Big 12 opponents since moving up to Division 1 at the start of the 2004-05 season. Since then they have compiled a 71-29 record.

Slow starters: The Jackrabbits won despite shooting just 16 percent in the first half (4-25). They shot 58 percent in the second half (15-26). They struggled from distance all night, making just 1 of 16 3-point attempts.

Trainer's room: Mariah Dunham's status for the game is uncertain because of a lingering back problem. Senior center Caitlin Gibson, who had been sidelined because of a sore back, returned to practice last week. Ashley Thomas is expected to play after missing practice with strep throat.

Home girls: The Jackrabbits have two players from the state of Wisconsin -- guard Ashlea Muckenhirn of Osceola and backup guard Morgan Meier, a senior from Oshkosh West.

Tough road: A crowd of more than 5,000 is expected for the game in Brookings. "It's loud," is the scouting report Stone has received. While men's teams seldom venture into such settings, such home-and-home schedules are more common in the women's game than the guarantees paid to small-school men's programs.

"It's a very good opponent for us, a very good early test," said Stone. "It'll show what we're made of and demonstrate our toughness and our identity by going on the road against a very good team."
