Wisconsin Badgers men's soccer coach Jeff Rohrman has stepped down after seven seasons, the school announced in a statement Tuesday.
"I feel now is the time for me to move on to a new chapter in my professional life," Rohrman said. "It has been a pleasure to work with the student-athletes here at Wisconsin and I wish them all the best as they continue their careers."
Rohrman concludes a seven-year run at Wisconsin with a 61-63-12 overall record, including a 12-24-6 mark in Big Ten Conference games.
Rohrman's teams went 1-6-1 in Big Ten tournament play, including a tie with 10th-ranked Michigan in the quarterfinals of the 2008 Big Ten Championship. The Badgers lost on penalty kicks, 4-3.
This year's team finished 9-7-3, marking the fifth time in Rohrman's tenure that the Badgers finished with at least nine wins.
But Wisconsin missed a bid to the NCAA tournament for the 13th consecutive season, dating to the program's 1995 national title run.
Nine players earn a total of 17 All-Big Ten honors during Rohrman's time in Madison, including three players who claimed a total of five first-team all-conference nods.
He also had four players named to the NSCAA Great Lakes All-Region team and coached Aaron Hohlbein to third-team All-America honors in 2006.
Holhlbein, a former Middleton athlete who plays for the Kansas City Wizards, was one of two Rohrman-coached UW players taken in the Major League Soccer draft, along with D.C. United pick Nick Van Sicklen, a former Madison West athlete.
Rohrman also produced 44 Academic All-Big Ten selections and a first-team CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American in Victor Diaz.
"I want to thank Jeff for the contributions he made to Wisconsin soccer," Wisconsin athletic director Barry Alvarez said. "We wish him success in his future endeavors."
A national search for a new Wisconsin men's soccer coach will begin as soon as possible, the school said.
