ALL EYES ON
Central Florida: Emma Cannon is the centerpiece of coach Joi Williams' rebuilding program at UCF. Cannon is averaging a double-double and has led the Knights in scoring in three of their four games. The Rochester, N.Y., native was a Conference USA all-freshman team selection last season when she averaged 11.7 points and 8.7 rebounds. UCF was one of the youngest teams in the nation last season with freshmen accounting for 91 percent of the minutes played. The Knights are nearly as young this season with six sophomores, a freshman and a junior in their top eight players. Junior center Marcquitta Head, who started the first three games, did not play Thursday against Baylor.
Wisconsin: Alyssa Karel is the only Badger averaging in double figures and has scored in double figures in each of the first four games. Her 3-point basket with 1:06 remaining Thursday put the Badgers ahead of Villanova to stay. Karel has hit 8 of 20 attempts from 3-point range this season.
POINTS TO PONDER
Battling the Bears: UCF may have played its best game of the year Thursday in losing to 6th-ranked Baylor, 79-67. After falling behind by 12 points in the first half, the Knights played the Bears to a 40-40 draw in the second half. UCF's only victory this season came against Florida A&M, 71-69. The other losses were to Colorado, 86-59, and Florida Atlantic, 68-63.
